Allenby is a popular neighborhood to put down roots. With its sizable two-story houses that have a good amount of outdoor space, but not too big of a footprint, Allenby is a great neighborhood for those who don’t want too much or too little. Allenby’s proximity to public transportation and distance to busier areas of the city make it convenient for those who want to have the nightlife and entertainment of the city available, then come home to a feeling of privacy, peace, and seclusion. 
 
The homes in Allenby line up in a relaxed, traditional sweep of the idyllic suburban street. Green lawns and old trees cloak the neighborhood giving it wonderful curb appeal. The homes in Allenby are predominantly Tudor-style architecture with a mix of one- and two-story options. The Allenby neighborhood is becoming increasingly popular as a retreat from more constricting areas of the city, so it has had a great deal of renovation over the last few years. 7 Numbers is a candlelit Italian establishment with a great ambiance and a fresh menu. It is a popular date-night spot in Allenby.
 
If you’re having dinner at home, the Summerhill Market has been an Allenby institution for over 70 years as a place to find wholesome, artisan ingredients, groceries, and prepared foods. It’s a great asset to have in the neighborhood for those who entertain often or love to cook. 
A great local coffee shop for an afternoon pick me up is Isle of Coffee, a cute, independently run nook for espresso and pastries. 
 
The seemingly endless number of shops that border Allenby provides everything one might want to shop for, from necessities like pet stores and banks to clothing boutiques that carry interesting finds.
 

Things to Do 

The nearby Eglinton Park is a wide-open green space that is a popular weekend spot for picnics, children’s sports games, walks, and biking. Within the sizable park, there is a playground as well as the newly built North Toronto Memorial Community Centre. This complex has a wide selection of activities for parents and children alike. The fitness center and classes are a great everyday asset, while the outdoor and indoor pools are a fun retreat during the summer. Camps, art programs, lessons, and afterschool activities are held regularly for children. 
 
For more involved hiking and cycling, the nearby Kay Gardner Beltline Trail provides gorgeous tracts of untouched greenery.
